Analyzing music is very useful because analyzing allows me to get involved with music I listen to. Analyzing music makes me feel more connected with to the music. By being connected its easier to relate to the music and that's what i want out of music. You see having a connection with the music brings feelings to music. By analyzing music it allows me to see how music communicate through feelings and emotions.
The one thing that did keep me safe, that gave me a feeling of comfort growing up was music (Melissa Etheridge). I feel that music is more that just entertainment, its a language. When I'm hurt there is music that understand. When i want to show my love, there is music for that as well, and so on. For me to find to right song for the moment I would have to analyze what i listen to.
I feel not analyzing music will detract from the experience. I can remember growing up listening to 2pacs (dear mama) song. I mean just to think about the struggle of single mother with two kids. I bring this song up because I can understand the artist pain for his mother, with all his mother had to deal with and on top of that he was causing even more problems by staying in trouble. But for me to analyze that song and see I felt the same way for my mother was an eye opener for me.
Analyzing music really can enhance your experience in many ways.Analyzing music is how you identify with music.(To examine carefully and in detail so as to identify causes, key factors, possible results, etc),is what the dictionary say analyzing is. So that makes me think, when listening to music, what are the results I want? When analyzing (I Almost Let Go) By Kurt Carr, it reminds me that God is always there for me. When feel a bit down I can identify the cause and pick myself up with a song like (A Brighter Day) by George Huff.
Hello there, I was reading your last post about analyzing music and I liked the point you have when you refer that making an analysis of a song is how you identify the music. You wrote that you remembered listening to a song and you could even felt the pain of the single mother with two kids. I did not have the same experience with a sad song, but I remember a song when I was a very little girl. It was my favorite. I even remember trying to sing that song but I was too little that I could barely speak. I have not listened to that song many years ago, but I can still remember that feeling and it makes me remember my childhood and my parents. I agree with you when you said that music is more than lyrics and rhythms, but it is a language through which you can express your different moods and desires. That connection you referred to is what I believe music does. It can take you to a different place, with the people and situation you want to have at that very moment, where the instruments make a fusion with your feelings and emotions.
